The San Agustín archaeological park is one of the most important archaeological sites in Colombia, located in the south of the department of Huila. It was founded on November 20, 1935, during the government of the liberal president Alfonso López Pumarejo, and in 1995 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
